Triple Whale’s integrations page lists Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Stripe as order sources. If your storefront is custom-built, or your Shopify store runs headless on a separate front end, the question is not whether Triple Whale can display your data. It is whether its pixel and attribution work the same way off the standard Shopify theme it was designed around. Ask for that in writing before committing, since paid plans run on 12-month terms and pricing scales with annual GMV.
Custom and headless stores share one problem. The tool cannot rely on a plug-in app to find your orders or fire its pixel, so someone has to wire both. The tools below differ mostly in how much of that wiring they document and support.
1. Northbeam
Northbeam has a knowledge base article specifically for non-Shopify, custom and headless stores. The setup is two parts. Your backend sends every order, historical and new, to its Orders API, and its pixel fires a purchase event on the front end with matching customer and order IDs. It is well documented and built for engineering teams. Northbeam lists Starter at $1,500 a month on month-to-month terms for Shopify brands, and points other platforms to Professional or Enterprise on annual terms, so a fully custom store should expect the higher tier.
2. Wicked Reports
Wicked Reports connects natively to the common carts and offers an orders API for custom shopping carts and revenue systems. It reports off the product names you send through the API, so clean product data on your side shows up directly in its reports. Under $2.5 million in annual revenue, Measure is $499 a month, Scale is $699 and Maximize is $999. API integrations for carts sit on Scale and above, which is the tier a custom store should price.
3. Littledata
Littledata only fits headless Shopify, not a fully custom store. Its Scale plan, at $199 a month with 1,500 orders included, adds headless support for server-side tracking to GA4, Meta, Google Ads and a short list of other destinations. It is tracking rather than attribution. It makes sure the platforms receive your purchases, and you still read channel performance somewhere else.
4. ThoughtMetric
ThoughtMetric is an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom stores, so a custom build is a supported setup rather than an exception. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) Multi-touch attribution, server-side tracking and post-purchase surveys come on every plan. Pricing is based on monthly pageviews, starting at $99 a month for 50,000, with monthly or annual billing. It does not include view-through modeling or a media mix model. For a custom store, ask on the demo exactly how orders get sent and who on your side needs to be involved.
5. Google Analytics 4
GA4 is free and runs anywhere you can place a tag. On a custom store you send the purchase event yourself, which gives you full control and full responsibility. Data-driven attribution is the default model. It undercounts paid social and does not hold ad spend from non-Google channels without extra work, so treat it as a baseline.
Where custom and headless setups break
On headless Shopify the storefront usually lives on one domain and checkout on another. If the tool’s first-party cookie does not survive that hop, every purchase looks like a new visitor arriving directly at checkout, and your paid channels lose the credit. Test it by clicking a tagged ad link, browsing a few pages, buying, and checking that the order shows the original source.
On fully custom stores the common failure is ID mismatch. The front end sends one customer ID and the backend sends another, so the tool cannot connect the visit to the order. Have your developer log both values on a test purchase and compare them before you read a single report. I wrote more about this in can attribution tools track a headless Shopify store and what I check before I trust a new tool’s numbers.
Picking one
- Engineering team in-house and a large ad budget? Northbeam’s Orders API is the best documented.
- Custom cart with subscriptions or long LTV? Wicked Reports on Scale or above.
- Headless Shopify and you only need the ad platforms fed correctly? Littledata Scale.
- Want custom-store attribution with every feature at a pageview price? ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).
- Need a free baseline you control end to end? GA4.
