Rockerbox and Northbeam sit at the upper end of the attribution market. Both sell multi-touch attribution plus heavier methods like media mix modeling and incrementality testing, and both are usually evaluated by brands spending real money across several channels. The comparison changed in 2025, when Rockerbox became part of DoubleVerify, so a lot of what you will find online about the two is out of date.
Rockerbox is modular, quoted, and now part of DoubleVerify
Rockerbox sells its platform as separate products: Journey for multi-touch attribution, MMM for media mix modeling, and Testing for incrementality. It does not publish a price. You build a quote with its team based on which modules you want, which is covered in more detail in cheaper Rockerbox alternatives.
DoubleVerify announced the acquisition in February 2025 as an $85 million cash deal, and said Rockerbox’s conversion and spend data would be combined with its Scibids AI activation technology. DoubleVerify also said the deal widens its reach into smaller performance advertisers. That is the open question for a Shopify brand: whether Rockerbox’s roadmap now bends toward the needs of DoubleVerify’s large advertiser base or toward yours. Nothing I have seen says support for mid-sized brands has changed, but it is worth asking directly on the sales call.
Northbeam has published tiers, priced by data volume
Northbeam lists its plans publicly. Its pricing page shows Starter from $1,500 a month and Professional from $3,500 a month, with Growth and Enterprise quoted. Every listed number is a starting rate, because Northbeam says your actual price depends on the volume of data your store generates, measured in pageviews.
Northbeam’s core is click-based multi-touch attribution with modeled view-through reporting, and it positions its media mix modeling and incrementality products as additions beyond that core. Higher tiers add more hands-on support. In practice, most brands start with attribution and add the heavier methods once they trust the base numbers.
Where they actually differ
The buying motion is the first difference. With Northbeam, you can see a floor price before talking to anyone. With Rockerbox, the first number you see is your quote. If your finance team wants to budget before a demo, that matters more than any feature.
The second is where each one starts. Northbeam leads with attribution and layers modeling on top. Rockerbox treats attribution, modeling, and testing as peers you pick from. A brand that already runs its own geo tests might buy only Rockerbox’s Journey product. A brand that wants one vendor to own the whole measurement question might lean the other way.
The third is ownership. Northbeam is an independent company. Rockerbox is now one product inside a larger ad-verification business. Neither is automatically better, but they carry different risks around roadmap and pricing changes over a multi-year contract.
The fourth is commitment. Both are built for brands with meaningful spend and someone on staff who will actually use the output. If nobody on your team will read an incrementality result and change a budget because of it, you are paying for capability you will not use.
If neither fits your spend level
A lot of brands compare Rockerbox and Northbeam because they are the names that come up, not because they need modeling and testing yet. If your real problem is that Meta and Google both claim the same orders, a lighter multi-touch tool may be enough for now. ThoughtMetric offers five attribution models, a lookback window up to 90 days, server-side tracking, and post-purchase surveys on every plan, with pricing based on monthly pageviews starting at $99 a month. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) It does not include media mix modeling or managed incrementality testing, so it is a replacement for platform-reported ROAS, not for a full measurement program. More options at that level are in Rockerbox competitors for e-commerce brands.
Questions to ask both sales teams
Ask how long until the attribution numbers are stable enough to act on, and what they expect you to do during that window. Ask what happens to your price when your pageviews or spend grow mid-contract. Ask Rockerbox how DoubleVerify’s ownership has changed its roadmap and support for brands your size. Ask Northbeam which features you are looking at in the demo are not in the tier you are being quoted. The answers will tell you more than the feature grid.
Picking one
- Want a visible starting price and attribution first, with modeling later? Northbeam.
- Want to buy attribution, MMM, and testing as separate modules, and comfortable with a quote? Rockerbox.
- Worried about roadmap changes under new ownership? Ask Rockerbox directly and get answers in writing.
- Mostly need to stop Meta and Google double counting? Price a lighter tool like ThoughtMetric (our sponsor) first.
