When someone tells me they want a cheaper Triple Whale alternative, I ask two things: what they pay now, and what they will pay next year. With Triple Whale those are different numbers. Its pricing page says paid plans are priced on a combination of annual GMV and the package you pick, and that Foundation, Automate, and Enterprise are 12-month subscriptions. Its Shopify App Store listing shows Foundation from $219 a month and Automate from $749 a month. Those are entry prices. Triple Whale also says that as revenue grows you move to the plan for your new revenue tier, with notice. The listing price is the floor, and growth is what moves you off it.
So cheaper depends on what a tool meters. A tool that charges on pageviews, revenue, orders, or ad spend can come out cheaper or more expensive than Triple Whale depending on which of those your store has a lot of. Before any of these, check whether Triple Whale’s own Free plan covers what you use. It includes the Triple Pixel, first and last click attribution, and 10 users at no cost. If it does not, here is what I would price out, and what each one charges on.
1. TrueROAS
TrueROAS has the lowest starting price on this list. Its pricing page says Basic is free for stores under $10k a month in revenue, Pro starts at $39 a month, and Premium starts at $499. It runs month to month with a 14-day trial. To be clear, TrueROAS is still revenue-based, so the bill rises as sales rise, the same direction as Triple Whale. What changes is the starting point and the lack of a 12-month commitment. It supports Shopify and WooCommerce, connects to Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, and Microsoft Ads, and the Pro plan sends conversions back through Meta CAPI and Google enhanced conversions. If you are a small store that mostly wants ad-level attribution without a contract, start here.
2. ThoughtMetric
ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this blog, charges on monthly pageviews instead of revenue. It starts at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews, or $83 a month billed annually, and every feature is included on every plan. That pricing base is why it belongs here. A store that grows revenue through higher AOV or a better conversion rate does not pay more for it. A store that grows through a lot more traffic does. High AOV and moderate traffic tends to favor pageview pricing. A high-traffic, low-AOV store should run the numbers before assuming it is cheaper.
On features, ThoughtMetric (sponsor) covers multi-touch attribution with five models, a configurable lookback window, server-side tracking, post-purchase surveys, and CAPI for Meta and Google. It works on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, and custom stores. There is a 14-day free trial, and existing customers keep the price they signed up at.
3. KnoCommerce
KnoCommerce is not a pixel-based attribution tool, which is exactly why it is cheap. It is a post-purchase survey that asks customers how they heard about you, with plans from $19 a month on its Shopify listing and month-to-month terms. For a lot of small brands, the survey answers the question they were paying Triple Whale to answer, which is roughly where new customers come from. It will not tell you which ad set to scale. Paired with Shopify’s own reports and clean UTMs, it is a workable setup for very little money. I wrote about how much weight to give survey answers in using post-purchase surveys as a real attribution signal.
4. Shopify’s built-in attribution
The cheapest option is the one you already pay for. Shopify’s marketing reports attribute orders to channels and campaigns using UTMs and referrers, at no extra cost. They are limited. The attribution is rule-based, it only knows about sessions it can tie to an order, and anything without a UTM tends to land in direct or unknown. But if your honest use of Triple Whale was checking which channel drove yesterday’s orders, this plus disciplined UTMs may be enough. I covered the limits in does Shopify have built-in attribution, and is it enough.
5. Admetrics
Admetrics is not cheap at the entry level, and I am including it because its meter is different. Its pricing page lists Growth at €339 a month with €20,000 of monthly ad spend included and 1.5 percent on spend above that, Business at €764 a month with €70,000 included, and custom plans from €1,100. Annual billing takes 15 percent off, and there is a 21-day trial. Because it charges on ad spend rather than GMV, it can come out cheaper than Triple Whale for a brand with high revenue and modest paid spend, such as one with a large repeat base or strong organic demand. For a brand that spends heavily to grow, it will not.
How I would compare them
Pull your last 12 months of revenue, pageviews, orders, and ad spend, then grow each by what you expect next year. Price every tool on both years. A tool that is cheaper today on a meter you are about to grow quickly is not actually cheaper. Put contract terms in the comparison too, since a month-to-month tool you can leave is worth more than its sticker price suggests. If you are close to a decision, read what to check before switching from Triple Whale first.
