KnoCommerce (KNO) is one of the better post-purchase survey tools for Shopify. It drops a survey on the thank-you page asking how customers heard about you and what drove the purchase, then turns those answers into zero-party attribution data that pixel tracking cannot give you. Response rates above 40 percent are realistic, which is what makes the data usable rather than anecdotal. Pricing is month-to-month: the Starter plan is around $19 but too limited to be useful, the Analyst plan at $119 a month is the real entry point, and Pro runs $299 a month for conditional logic and custom styling, with a 10 percent discount if you pay annually.
KNO is good, but it is not the only way to collect this data, and a couple of alternatives approach the attribution problem from completely different angles. Here are five worth comparing.
Fairing
Fairing (formerly Enquire Labs) is the most direct competitor. Its Question Stream serves different questions to different customers over time, so you collect a wider dataset without a single overwhelming survey. Pricing is tiered by monthly order volume, free up to 100 orders, then roughly $15, $49, $99, $149, and $199 a month as you scale past 7,500 orders. It is Shopify Plus certified and integrates with Klaviyo, Triple Whale, and the usual stack.
One thing to go in with eyes open about: some long-time users have reported steep increases when legacy plans were repriced. The product is strong, but confirm the current tier for your order volume before assuming it stays cheap.
ThoughtMetric
Surveys give you what customers say influenced them. Deterministic tracking gives you what they actually clicked. ThoughtMetric is an attribution platform that does the second, and it also includes post-purchase surveys, so you can hold the self-reported answer next to the click data and see where they disagree. Pricing is based on monthly pageviews, starting at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews, with every feature on every tier and a 14-day free trial. Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.
If your goal is purely qualitative customer research, a dedicated survey tool goes deeper on question design. But if the survey was always a means to better attribution, a platform that combines both signals is the more complete answer, and it covers the attribution job KNO only partly addresses.
Grapevine Surveys
Grapevine is a Shopify post-purchase survey app that leans into customization and offers unlimited responses on its paid plans, with a free trial to start. It covers the same core jobs as KNO and Fairing, attribution, NPS, and segmentation, and tends to appeal to teams that want to build very specific survey logic without per-response caps.
It has a smaller footprint than KNO or Fairing, so the integration list and benchmarking data are thinner. For a store that mostly wants clean attribution surveys without volume-based pricing, it is a reasonable, lower-profile option.
Zigpoll
Zigpoll is the most flexible on placement. It runs post-purchase, on-site, and exit-intent surveys, so you are not limited to the thank-you page. The free plan covers up to 100 responses a month and paid plans start around $25 a month, which makes it the cheapest serious option here for a smaller store.
The breadth is the appeal and also the risk: it is a general survey platform rather than an attribution specialist, so you do more of the setup yourself to get attribution-grade data out of it.
Delighted
Delighted (owned by Qualtrics) is a broader customer-experience platform built around NPS, CSAT, and CES rather than ecommerce attribution. Pricing starts around $199 a month for its Professional plan. It is not Shopify-native and was not designed to answer the how-did-you-hear-about-us question, so it sits a little outside this category.
I would only reach for it if customer satisfaction measurement across the whole journey matters more to you than purchase attribution. For pure post-purchase attribution it is the wrong shape of tool.
Picking between these
- If you want a direct KNO competitor with mature integrations and order-based pricing, Fairing is the obvious comparison, just confirm your tier’s current price.
- If the survey was always about attribution, ThoughtMetric pairs deterministic tracking with surveys so you can check one against the other, starting at $99 a month.
- If you want unlimited responses and custom survey logic without volume caps, Grapevine is worth a look.
- If you want surveys beyond the thank-you page and the lowest entry price, Zigpoll is the most flexible and the cheapest to start.
- If broad customer-experience measurement matters more than attribution, Delighted fits, though it is not built for Shopify.
