The Best Attribution Tools for Smart Home Device Brands

Smart home devices like cameras, locks, lighting, and sensors are researched purchases. Buyers watch YouTube reviews, read comparison posts, check compatibility with the ecosystem they already have, and often buy through search after a week or two. Many of these brands also sell on Amazon and at big-box retail, so a lot of the demand your ads create ends up somewhere your site’s pixel can’t see.

So the tools that fit credit research channels, show Amazon next to your own store where possible, and don’t overreact to modest order counts. Here’s my ranking. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric, ranked third, sponsors this site.)

1. Northbeam

Northbeam credits YouTube and video views through its Clicks + Deterministic Views model and integrates with Amazon, which helps when reviews drive demand that lands on both your site and Amazon. Starter is listed from $1,500 a month for brands spending under $1.5 million a year on ads, month to month for Shopify brands. Professional is $3,500 a month on annual terms and adds support for any e-commerce platform.

2. Triple Whale

Triple Whale integrates with Amazon on its free plan and adds multi-touch attribution, product analytics, and cohorts on Foundation. Foundation is listed from $219 a month on its Shopify listing and is priced by annual GMV. The free plan covers first and last click with a 12-month lookback.

3. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, integrates natively with Google Ads, which covers search, Shopping, and YouTube, plus Meta, TikTok, and Bing. Review sites and affiliates can be tracked as custom channels, and survey answers feed its multi-touch model. It’s an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom stores. Pricing starts at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews, with every feature on every plan. It tracks your own store, not Amazon or retail.

4. Polar Analytics

Polar Analytics works as a reporting layer across several sales channels, with custom metrics and geo-based holdout tests for checking whether a channel adds orders. Its pricing is not listed on the website, so you’ll need a demo for a number.

5. Fairing

Fairing can ask which review, video, or comparison post convinced a buyer, which tells you more about affiliate value than last-click data does. It’s free up to 200 orders a month, then $49 up to 500 and $99 up to 1,000.

What smart home brands should measure

Look at total sales across your site, Amazon, and retail when you change ad spend, since your site’s attribution only sees part of the result. Separate review-site affiliates from coupon affiliates. Track app activations or device registrations if you have them, which can show where retail buyers first heard of you. And use rolling 30-day numbers. See attribution tools for phone and tech accessory brands, attribution tools for audio and headphone brands, and do attribution tools work with YouTube ads.

FAQs

Can attribution tools see Amazon and retail sales?

Some see Amazon. Northbeam and Triple Whale integrate with it. Retail sales usually need a holdout test or blended reporting.

Why does branded search take so much credit?

Buyers research through reviews and videos, then search your name to buy. Surveys show what came first.

Do review-site affiliates deserve credit?

Often more than last click gives them. Compare survey answers with affiliate reports.

What’s the cheapest setup?

Triple Whale’s free plan or ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, at $99 a month, plus Fairing’s free tier.
