Triple Whale vs TrueProfit: Attribution Suite or Profit Tracker?

Triple Whale and TrueProfit get compared because both show Shopify brands their numbers in one dashboard. They start from different questions, though. TrueProfit is a profit tracker: it pulls in costs, shipping, fees, and ad spend so you can see what you actually made. Triple Whale is a measurement and AI platform: attribution, creative analytics, cohorts, and Moby on top. Which one you need depends on whether your biggest blind spot is margin or marketing.

Pricing

TrueProfit prices by monthly orders. Basic is $35 a month for 300 orders, Advanced is $60 for 600, Ultimate is $100 for 1,500, and Enterprise is $200 for 3,500, with per-order fees above each limit up to a monthly cap. Marketing attribution is only on Enterprise.

Triple Whale has a free plan with first and last click attribution and a standard survey. On its Shopify listing, Foundation starts at $219 a month and Automate at $749, with the actual price set by annual GMV. For most growing brands, TrueProfit is much cheaper, and the gap widens as GMV rises.

Profit tracking

This is TrueProfit’s home ground. It handles COGS, shipping costs, transaction fees, and custom costs, with a real-time profit dashboard from Basic and a P&L report from Advanced. If your current pain is not knowing whether you made money last week, TrueProfit answers that directly. Triple Whale also shows profit metrics, but profit is one view inside a much bigger platform.

Attribution

Triple Whale is far stronger here. The Triple Pixel feeds multi-touch attribution on Foundation, alongside creative analytics and segment syncing to ad platforms. TrueProfit syncs ad spend from the start but gates marketing attribution behind its $200 Enterprise tier, so a brand on Basic sees profit after ad spend, not which ads drove the sales. If you’re deciding where the next $10,000 of ad budget goes, TrueProfit’s lower tiers won’t tell you.

A third option

Some brands pair a profit tracker with a dedicated attribution tool instead of buying an all-in-one. ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, is an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom stores. It combines multi-touch attribution with post-purchase surveys and starts at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews. Together with TrueProfit Basic, that comes to $134 a month. FAQs

Is TrueProfit an attribution tool?

Mainly it’s a profit tracker. Marketing attribution is included only on its $200-a-month Enterprise plan.

Is Triple Whale worth it over TrueProfit?

If ad attribution and creative analysis drive your decisions, yes. If you mostly need to know your margins, TrueProfit costs far less.

Can I use both?

You can, but there’s overlap in dashboards. Pairing TrueProfit with a focused attribution tool is often cheaper than Triple Whale at higher GMV.

Which is better for a store under $1M?

TrueProfit Basic or Triple Whale’s free plan are both reasonable starts. Add multi-touch attribution once ad spend is large enough that budget decisions matter.
