Black Friday is November 27 this year, which leaves about a month. That is enough time to add or switch a measurement tool, but not much more. Pixels need history before their numbers are useful, survey questions need a few weeks of answers, and nobody wants to learn a new dashboard on the Friday itself.
With Polar Analytics, the BFCM question is mostly about plan level. Its help center lists intraday data refresh and the first-party pixel on Analyze & Enrich, not on the entry Analyze plan. On Analyze, you are working from data that is not refreshed intraday during the four days when hourly decisions matter. Pricing is not listed on the website. Upgrading is one answer. Here are five others.
What matters during BFCM
| Need | Why it matters | Tools that handle it |
|---|---|---|
| Near real-time data | Budgets move by the hour on Black Friday | Triple Whale, ThoughtMetric (sponsor) |
| Discount code reporting | Sitewide codes muddy affiliate and influencer credit | ThoughtMetric (sponsor) |
| New vs returning split | BFCM revenue skews toward existing customers | ThoughtMetric (sponsor) |
| Survey data | Gift buyers and word of mouth leave no click | KnoCommerce, ThoughtMetric (sponsor) |
| Post-BFCM cohorts | The real test is whether new buyers come back | Lifetimely |
1. Triple Whale
Triple Whale‘s pricing page lists data refresh every 15 minutes or less, which is what you want on Black Friday. The catch is timing. Paid plans are 12-month subscriptions, so signing for one holiday means committing to a year. The free plan gives first- and last-click attribution and dashboards with no commitment, which is enough for a clean BFCM view if you do not need multi-touch.
2. KnoCommerce
KnoCommerce‘s docs point Analyst and Pro customers to a BFCM survey template. Starter is $19 a month, Analyst $119 and Pro $299, billed monthly with no long-term contracts and a 7-day trial. Add a question about whether the order is a gift, because gift buyers change how you should read new customer numbers in December.
3. ThoughtMetric
ThoughtMetric is an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom stores. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) Data refreshes every 10 minutes, and you can break revenue down by discount code, which matters when a sitewide BFCM code is sitting on top of affiliate and influencer codes. It splits results by new and returning customers so you can see whether Black Friday found anyone new. Pricing starts at $99 a month based on pageviews, with every feature on every plan, and monthly billing means you can start now without signing for a year.
4. Lifetimely
Lifetimely is for January, not November. Its cohort and LTV reports show whether customers acquired over BFCM come back at the same rate as the rest of the year, which is the number that tells you whether the discount was worth it. It has a free plan up to 50 orders a month, and paid plans start at $79 a month for up to 500 orders with a 14-day trial.
5. Northbeam
Northbeam Starter is month-to-month for Shopify brands, listed at $1,500 a month for brands spending under $1.5 million a year on ads. Its docs say Clicks-Only needs one to two weeks of data and Clicks + Views about 30 days, so this is the last week to start if you want it for Black Friday.
What to set up this week
Whichever tool you use, put UTMs on every email, SMS and influencer link, keep your normal attribution window, and write down each platform’s reported numbers every day so you can compare later. Decide now which number you will report to leadership, before the results tempt you. More in fixing attribution before Black Friday, which attribution window to use for Black Friday and using BFCM results to plan the year.
FAQs
Is it too late to switch attribution tools before Black Friday?
Not if you install this week. You will have about four weeks of baseline data, which is enough to compare Black Friday against normal weeks.
Does Polar Analytics refresh data in real time?
Its help center lists intraday data refresh on the Analyze & Enrich plan and above, not on the entry Analyze plan.
Should I sign an annual contract just for BFCM?
Only if you would keep the tool anyway. Monthly options like ThoughtMetric (our sponsor), KnoCommerce and Northbeam Starter let you judge it on real results first.
Which BFCM metric matters most?
New customer revenue and what those customers do in the following 60 to 90 days. Total revenue will look good almost regardless.
