Growing stores, one honest take at a time.

Attribution tools for luggage and travel gear brands

Luggage demand follows the calendar more than most categories. Summer travel and the holidays drive the spikes, and gifting adds another peak in Q4. Buyers compare sizes against airline carry-on rules, read review roundups and travel blogs, and often look at a bag in a store before ordering online. Returns are mostly about size or fit, and they are expensive to ship back.

That combination makes weekly ROAS misleading. Spend and demand rise in the same weeks, review content gets little credit on last click, and a channel can look efficient until the returns come in. Here is what I would look for and five tools that fit.

1. Triple Whale

Triple Whale includes multi-touch attribution through the Triple Pixel, post-purchase surveys and influencer and affiliate tracking on Foundation, which covers the review-site and creator side of luggage marketing. Pricing is based on annual GMV and package, paid plans are 12-month subscriptions, and there is a free plan with first- and last-click attribution.

2. Northbeam

Northbeam fits a brand spending heavily on video and paid social, where its Clicks + Deterministic Views feature credits ads people watched but did not click. Enterprise adds international and geo-specific dashboards for brands selling in several countries. Starter is listed at $1,500 a month for brands spending under $1.5 million a year on ads and is limited to Shopify. Professional, at $3,500 a month, works with any e-commerce platform.

3. Rockerbox

Rockerbox is for the larger luggage brand with its own stores, TV or out-of-home spend such as airport ads. It brings digital and offline channels into one dataset and offers multi-touch attribution, MMM and incrementality testing. It is part of DoubleVerify, and pricing is not listed on its website.

4. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric is an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom stores. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) It lists bag brands LeSportsac and Oroton among its customers. It reports refunds alongside sales, so you can judge channels on net revenue after size returns, and it splits results by new and returning customers. Another customer, SportRx, uses it to measure affiliate partner sessions and the conversions they influence, which is the same job a luggage brand has with review sites. Pricing starts at $99 a month based on pageviews, with every feature on every plan.

5. KnoCommerce

KnoCommerce catches the store visit and the friend’s recommendation. Add “saw it in a store,” “saw it at the airport” and “a review site” as answers. Starter is $19 a month, Analyst $119 and Pro $299, billed monthly with no long-term contracts and a 7-day trial.

Read the season, not the week

I compare each channel against the same weeks last year rather than against last month, because June always beats April. Report on net sales after returns, and give review content a longer window than paid social. More in how attribution tools handle refunds and returns, tracking Shopify POS and offline sales and attribution for long purchase cycles.

I would also treat the size guide and carry-on fit pages as a leading indicator. Visitors who check whether a bag fits an airline’s limits are close to buying, and the share of each channel’s traffic that reaches those pages tells you earlier than orders whether a campaign is finding real travelers.

FAQs

How should luggage brands handle returns in attribution?

Judge channels on net sales after refunds, not gross revenue. Size returns are uneven across channels, so gross ROAS can rank them in the wrong order.

How do you measure airport and out-of-home ads?

With surveys, branded search in the target region, and a holdout by market when you can. See a cheap geo holdout to sanity-check a channel.

Do review sites get fair credit?

Usually not. Last click rewards coupon sites at checkout and gives little to the review that started the search, so use surveys and multi-touch to balance it.

What is the best attribution tool for a luggage brand?

Triple Whale for affiliate tracking in one platform, Northbeam for heavy video, Rockerbox for brands with stores and TV, and ThoughtMetric, our sponsor, for returns-adjusted multi-touch at a low price.
