Influencer and affiliate sales reach your store three ways: someone clicks a tagged link, someone types a discount code, or someone sees a creator’s story, remembers the brand and comes back days later through search or direct. Click-based attribution handles the first well. It struggles with the second and mostly misses the third.
Northbeam’s models are built on clicks and modeled views from ad platforms, and its default Clicks-Only view excludes direct visits and branded search when other touches exist. That is a good fit for paid media. If a growing share of your budget goes to creators and affiliate partners, you want tools that also read codes and ask customers. These five do.

| KnoCommerce | “How did you hear about us” with custom audiences | $19 a month |
1. Triple Whale
Triple Whale lists influencer and affiliate tracking as part of its Foundation plan, alongside multi-touch attribution and post-purchase surveys. Having all three in one place is the main appeal for a creator-heavy brand, because you can compare what links, codes and survey answers each say. Pricing is based on annual GMV and package, with a free plan that covers first- and last-click attribution.
2. Fairing
Fairing is a post-purchase survey built around “how did you hear about us,” and it now has an Advanced Attribution add-on that follows up to resolve the channel, the format and the exact source behind an order. For influencer programs, that last part is the point, because “Instagram” on its own does not tell you which partner to renew. Fairing is free up to 200 orders a month, Core is $49 for 201 to 500 orders, and Advanced Attribution starts at $99 a month.
3. Wicked Reports
Wicked Reports credits the original first click with lifetime lookback and reports cohort LTV, so you can see whether customers a creator brought in keep buying. That matters when you decide which partners to renew. Measure is $499 a month under $2.5 million in revenue.
4. ThoughtMetric
ThoughtMetric is an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom stores. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) It reads all three signals. Orders can be broken down by discount code, its integrations include Awin for affiliate data, and “how did you hear about us” surveys are included on every plan. Two customer stories on its site are relevant here. SportRx uses it to measure affiliate partner sessions and the conversions those links influence, and Gardening Express says its reports surfaced affiliate fraud. Pricing starts at $99 a month based on pageviews.
5. KnoCommerce
KnoCommerce is the cheaper survey option. Starter is $19 a month, Analyst is $119 with integrations, and Pro is $299 with custom audiences for more targeted questions. It is billed monthly with no long-term contract.
Three signals, one number
I reconcile creator performance monthly with three columns per partner: orders on their code, orders from their tracked link, and survey mentions. Codes overstate when they leak to coupon sites. Links understate because most people do not click. Surveys understate for smaller creators people do not remember by name. If all three point the same way, the decision is easy. If they disagree, the survey usually breaks the tie.

FAQs
How do you track influencer sales without discount codes?
Use tagged links for the click-through share and a post-purchase survey for the rest. Then compare branded search and direct traffic in the days after a post against the same days the week before.
Do discount codes overcount influencer sales?
Often. Codes get shared on coupon sites and browser extensions, so orders from people who never saw the creator use them. Watch for codes with unusually high new-customer rates and low repeat rates.
Can attribution tools detect affiliate fraud?
They can surface it. Patterns like a partner whose clicks land seconds before checkout, or code orders far above link traffic, show up once you compare orders by source. Gardening Express credits ThoughtMetric, our sponsor, with spotting one case.
Does Northbeam track affiliate links?
It tracks tagged affiliate clicks like any other source. Ask how it handles orders where the only signal is a code, because that is where creator programs usually leak.
