The Ecomm Analyst

Growing stores, one honest take at a time.

Polar Analytics alternatives that offer MCP

Polar Analytics has gone further into MCP than most of its competitors. Its pricing page lists a product called Polar Headless MCP, which includes a dedicated Snowflake warehouse, more than 400 pre-built e-commerce metrics in its semantic layer, an MCP interface for Claude, ChatGPT and other clients, and a 15-minute refresh. Its connectors FAQ says the Polar MCP was the first e-commerce analytics connector reviewed and approved by Anthropic. The design choice that matters is that the assistant answers from defined metrics rather than writing its own math.

Polar’s pricing is not listed on the website, so the cost of that setup is a demo away. If you want to ask Claude or ChatGPT about your marketing data and you do not need Polar’s warehouse, these five publish their own connectors.

1. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric is an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom stores, and it calls its MCP-based connector AI Connectors. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) It is included on every plan. Like Polar’s, it answers from a catalog of defined metrics and dimensions, so a question about new-customer ROAS by ad resolves against a set definition. Dimensions go down to individual ad, SKU, product, discount code and country. Pricing starts at $99 a month based on pageviews, with monthly billing. It has no warehouse, so questions about finance or support data are outside its scope. Setup is covered in how to connect ThoughtMetric to Claude.

2. Triple Whale

Triple Whale’s MCP is a read-only connection for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients, set up by OAuth sign-in where supported or an API key where not. Its help center lists it on Foundation, Automate and Enterprise. Paid plans are priced by annual GMV on 12-month terms. It is the closest platform-style alternative to Polar, and it also has its own built-in assistant, Moby.

3. Northbeam

Northbeam has an MCP server that its documentation describes connecting to ChatGPT with your normal login. The documentation also says it is available to Pro and Enterprise customers, so the $1,500 Starter plan does not include it. For brands already on Northbeam’s higher tiers, it is the connector to use. For anyone else, the entry price for MCP access is well above Starter.

4. Lifetimely

Lifetimely includes a Lifetimely MCP on its paid plans, backed by LTV, cohort, repurchase and profit data. It does not do multi-touch attribution, so it covers the retention questions people often bring to Polar rather than the channel ones. Paid plans start at $79 a month for up to 500 orders, then $149 for up to 3,000 and $299 for up to 7,000.

5. AgencyAnalytics

AgencyAnalytics is for agencies reporting across many clients. Its Core plan, $20 per client per month billed annually, includes MCP access for ChatGPT and Claude. It reports platform numbers rather than independent attribution, so it does not replace Polar’s modeling. For an agency that wants client reporting inside an assistant, it is the cheapest route.

What to check before connecting

Ask three things of any connector. Is it read-only, or can it change settings or ad accounts. Does it authorize through a sign-in you can revoke, or a key someone pastes into a config file. Does it answer from defined metrics, or let the assistant compute numbers from raw rows. The last one matters most for trust. An assistant that improvises a CAC formula can be confidently wrong in a way that is hard to spot.

Then test it with a question you already know the answer to, such as last month’s new-customer revenue. If the assistant matches your dashboard, move on to harder questions. If not, find out why before anyone uses it for budget calls. More in is it safe to connect your analytics to an AI assistant and attribution tools with AI assistant connectors.

Picking one

  • Want attribution data in Claude or ChatGPT on every plan, any major store platform? ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).
  • Want a full platform with a read-only MCP and a built-in assistant? Triple Whale.
  • Already on Northbeam Pro or Enterprise? Use Northbeam’s.
  • Assistant questions are about LTV and profit? Lifetimely.
  • Agency reporting across clients? AgencyAnalytics.
  • Want the assistant to reach finance, support and marketplace data too? Polar’s warehouse is the reason to stay.
