Growing stores, one honest take at a time.

ThoughtMetric vs Attribuly

Attribuly and ThoughtMetric both sell multi-touch attribution to Shopify brands, but they are becoming different products. Attribuly has been building around retention: recovering abandoned carts in Klaviyo and similar email tools, identifying anonymous visitors, and feeding richer events to ad platforms, with attribution as one part of that package. ThoughtMetric is built around attribution and the reporting on top of it. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) The right pick depends on which of those problems costs you more.

How is each one priced?

Attribuly prices on credits, which count events. It has a free plan, and Pro starts at $8 a month billed annually, or $99 a year, for 40,000 credits, with higher tiers from 100,000 credits up and a 7-day trial. Tracking an event on your store costs one credit, sending an event to an email platform costs 60, and capturing an anonymous visitor’s email costs 600. Unused credits roll over. Enterprise starts at $1,000 a month, and its email capture product starts at $450 a month for up to 1,500 enriched shoppers.

In practice, Attribuly’s bill depends on how much of the retention side you use. A store that only tracks events spends credits slowly. One that syncs a lot of cart events to Klaviyo and captures emails moves up tiers fast. Its pricing page has an estimator based on monthly revenue, which is worth running before you compare.

ThoughtMetric prices on monthly pageviews, starting at $99 a month for 50,000, with every feature on every plan, monthly or annual billing, and a 14-day trial. There is no separate meter for features, so the bill moves with traffic and nothing else.

How do they compare on attribution?

Attribuly’s Pro plan includes multi-touch attribution with the full customer journey, first click, last click, linear, and position models, and a 1-year lookback. Custom models and Full Impact AI, its model that measures ad views as well as clicks, are Enterprise features, along with checkout tracking and a 2-year lookback. ThoughtMetric offers first touch, last touch, linear paid, position based, and its own multi-touch model on every plan, with a configurable lookback window, and it folds post-purchase survey answers into the attribution.

At the entry level, then, the model sets are similar. The gap opens higher up: view-through modeling from Attribuly means buying Enterprise. ThoughtMetric’s survey layer is the more useful addition if podcasts, influencers, or word of mouth drive meaningful sales, since those are the channels pixels see worst.

What does Attribuly do that ThoughtMetric doesn’t?

The retention tooling. ReCapture restores add-to-cart and checkout events that email platforms miss, so more shoppers enter your abandonment flows. Capture identifies anonymous visitors and collects their emails. Pro also syncs enriched events to ad platforms for retargeting and pushes cleaner data to GA4. Attribuly has an AI analyst called AllyClaw and an MCP server for connecting its data to AI agents. If abandoned-cart revenue in Klaviyo is a bigger lever for you than budget allocation, that is real value ThoughtMetric does not try to provide.

Where is ThoughtMetric the better fit?

When attribution is the decision you need help with. ThoughtMetric reports down to product, SKU, and variant, splits results by new and returning customers, tracks refunds and net sales, and includes ad integrations for Snapchat, Criteo, AppLovin, and ChatGPT Ads alongside the major platforms. It runs on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, and custom stores, where Attribuly lists Shopify and WooCommerce. AI connectors for Claude and ChatGPT let you query the data directly. And the price does not change with how many features you switch on, which makes it easy to budget.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Attribuly if you are a small Shopify store on a tight budget, your Klaviyo flows are leaking abandoned carts, and you want basic multi-touch attribution in the same app. Its entry price is hard to beat if your event volume is low. Pick ThoughtMetric if your main question is which channels and campaigns drive profitable orders, you want survey data inside the attribution model, or you run on a platform other than Shopify or WooCommerce.

Either way, test the new tool against your current numbers for a full purchase cycle before you rely on it. I covered how in what I check before I trust a new attribution tool’s numbers, and the wider list is in Attribuly alternatives for Shopify attribution.

Quick comparison

  • Klaviyo cart recovery is your biggest lever? Attribuly.
  • Main need is channel and campaign attribution? ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).
  • Very low traffic and a small budget? Attribuly Pro’s entry tier.
  • Want a predictable bill that only moves with traffic? ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).
  • Need view-through modeling? That is Attribuly Enterprise, from $1,000 a month, so price Northbeam too.
