Growing stores, one honest take at a time.

NestAds alternatives for Shopify ad tracking and reporting

NestAds is one of the cheaper ways to get real ad tracking onto a Shopify store, and for a lot of brands that is exactly the right call. The Pro plan is $129.99 a month at a flat rate, with unlimited tracked ad spend and unlimited tracked revenue, a free Starter plan underneath it, and a 7-day trial that does not ask for a card. Flat pricing on a revenue-scaling metric is unusual and worth something.

The reasons operators move off it are consistent. The reporting layer is thinner than a full analytics platform, the integration list is shorter than the big players, and brands that grow past a certain point want attribution sitting next to LTV, contribution margin, and survey data rather than on its own.

Every price below comes from the vendor’s own pricing page. Where I could not confirm a current figure that way, I say so rather than repeat what a comparison site claims.

1. Attribuly

Attribuly is the most direct swap. Same Shopify-native install, same multi-touch attribution job, similar audience of stores that do not want to spend four figures a month on measurement. There is a free plan, Pro starts at $8.25 a month, Enterprise is custom priced, and you get 14 days of full Pro access with no setup fee.

Read the entry price carefully, because cost scales with tracked revenue and the headline is a starting point rather than a bill. It also does influencer attribution properly, which NestAds does not really cover. I wrote up the wider field in my Attribuly alternatives post.

2. AdBeacon

AdBeacon is the step up for brands where paid media is the whole business and the media buyer is the primary user. Click-only attribution, real-time dashboards, in-platform optimization, and an audience builder that people who live in Ads Manager tend to like.

Pricing scales with monthly revenue tracked. At the entry tier, up to $50K a month, the monthly plan starts at $299 and the twelve-month plan billed monthly starts at $239, with a 30-day free trial and every feature included at every level. That is more than double NestAds, so the question is whether the optimization workflow is worth it to your team.

3. TrueROAS

TrueROAS is aimed at roughly the same buyer as NestAds. Server-side tracking, ad platform integrations, profit-aware reporting, and a Shopify install that does not require a developer. Stores that find NestAds a little thin on the profit side often land here.

I have not re-verified their current pricing against their own page for this post, so I am not going to print a figure. Check it directly. Pricing in this bracket changes more often than the roundups tracking it do, and the difference between a stale quote and the real one is usually large enough to matter at this end of the market.

4. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this blog, is where I send stores that have outgrown app-level tracking but do not want a full analytics suite. It is $99 a month on pageview-based pricing, or $83 a month billed annually, with every feature at every tier and a 14-day free trial.

The practical difference from NestAds is what sits around the attribution. Post-purchase survey data, cohort and LTV views, and channel reporting that holds up when someone asks why Meta and Shopify disagree. If the reason you are shopping is that your attribution number has no context around it, that is the gap this fills.

5. Triple Whale

Triple Whale is the largest jump on this list, in both capability and cost, and the only one where the buying decision usually involves someone other than the person running ads. Attribution, a company-wide dashboard, creative analytics, forecasting, and a long list of modules that most stores never open. For brands past roughly $10M where several teams need the same numbers, that breadth stops being bloat and starts being the point.

I would price it carefully on their own pricing page rather than trusting a comparison table, because the add-on structure means the entry number and the real number can drift apart quickly.

Picking between these

If NestAds is working and the only complaint is price, Attribuly is the cheaper version of the same idea. If the complaint is that the media buyer wants to optimize inside the tool, AdBeacon is the answer. If the complaint is that the attribution number arrives without any surrounding context, ThoughtMetric is the smaller step and Triple Whale is the larger one.

What I would not do is treat the migration as a data continuity exercise. Your new tool will report different revenue by channel than NestAds did, sometimes materially. That is not a bug in either product. Run them in parallel for a month if you can, understand where the gap comes from, and then commit to one number for reporting instead of quietly picking whichever tool flatters the channel you already wanted to fund.

About

Six years in e-commerce. Three Shopify stores across different niches, one scaled past seven figures. I’ve tested hundreds of ad creatives, obsessed over email flows, and learned more from my failures than my wins.

Now I focus on conversion optimization, retention marketing, and the analytics behind it all. This blog is where I share what actually works, backed by real numbers. No fluff, no guru energy.
