Influencer and affiliate revenue is where most measurement setups fall apart. Codes undercount, because plenty of buyers never use them, and they also overcount, because coupon sites leak codes to people who were going to buy anyway. Influencer fees and gifted product rarely show up as spend anywhere, so ROAS for the channel is blank. And most of the effect of a good creator post never produces a click.
Polar Analytics can report on all of this if you build it, but it’s a BI platform, not an influencer measurement tool. If creators and affiliates are a big part of your mix, these are the alternatives I’d look at. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric, ranked second, sponsors this site.)
| Tool | Starting price | What it adds for creators and affiliates | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairing | Free up to 200 orders/mo | Buyers name the creator who sent them | Survey data only |
| ThoughtMetric (sponsor) | $99/mo for 50,000 pageviews | Custom channels plus surveys in the model | Spend must be entered for custom channels |
| Northbeam | From $1,500/mo (Starter) | Spend sheets and API for non-integrated channels | Price needs big spend |
| Elevar | Advanced $650/mo (10,000 orders) | Server-side events to AWIN, CJ, Impact, and others | Affiliate destinations start on Advanced |
| KnoCommerce | From $19/mo | Survey option with benchmarks | Survey data only |
1. Fairing
For influencer measurement, a post-purchase survey does more than any pixel. Fairing asks how buyers found you, and a follow-up can list your creators by name, so you see who drove sales even when no code was used. It’s free up to 200 orders a month, then $49, $99, and $149 as volume grows, and it syncs responses to Klaviyo and other tools.
2. ThoughtMetric
ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, supports custom channels for affiliate networks, influencer programs, and less common platforms, so you can track them next to paid ads with your own spend figures. Post-purchase survey answers feed the attribution model, which gives creators credit for buyers who never clicked. It’s an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom stores, starting at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews.
3. Northbeam
Northbeam handles influencer and affiliate spend through custom spend sheets or its Spend API, so those channels sit in the same model as Meta and Google. It suits larger brands with big paid budgets plus a creator program. Starter is listed from $1,500 a month for brands under $1.5 million a year in ad spend, and Professional is $3,500 a month on annual terms.
4. Elevar
Elevar, now sold as Audiense Online, sends server-side conversion events to affiliate platforms including AWIN, CJ, Impact, Partnerize, and Rakuten, which cuts down on lost affiliate conversions. Affiliate destinations start on the Advanced plan at $650 a month for up to 10,000 orders. It’s tracking infrastructure, not attribution reporting.
5. KnoCommerce
KnoCommerce is the other strong survey option, with creator follow-ups and benchmark data on its Analyst plan. Starter is $19 a month, Analyst $119, and Pro $299.
A workable influencer measurement setup
Give every creator a unique link and code. Record what you pay each one, including gifted product at cost, as spend in your attribution tool. Ask about creators by name in your post-purchase survey. Then compare three numbers for each creator: code redemptions, survey mentions, and attributed revenue. Watch for codes showing up on coupon sites, and consider single-use or creator-specific landing pages for big partners. FAQs
Can Polar Analytics track influencers?
You can build influencer reporting in Polar, but it’s a BI platform rather than a dedicated influencer tool. Pricing is not listed on the website.
Are discount codes enough to measure influencers?
No. Many buyers never use the code, and leaked codes get credited for sales the creator didn’t drive. Pair codes with surveys.
How do I calculate ROAS for influencers?
Enter fees and gifted product cost as spend in a custom channel, then compare against attributed and survey-informed revenue.
Do affiliate networks need server-side tracking?
It helps. Browser-based affiliate tags miss conversions, and server-side events from a tool like Elevar recover more of them.
How to choose
- Start with Fairing or KnoCommerce to see which creators actually drive sales.
- Choose ThoughtMetric (our sponsor) to put creators and affiliates on the same model as paid ads at a published price.
- Choose Northbeam if creators sit alongside large multi-channel budgets.
- Add Elevar if affiliate networks are losing conversions.
