The Best Attribution Tools for Oral Care Brands

Oral care brands usually run a device-plus-refill model: an electric toothbrush, a water flosser, or a whitening kit up front, then brush heads, toothpaste tablets, or refills on subscription. The first order rarely pays back the ad that won it. The subscription does. Discovery leans on TikTok and YouTube reviews and on dentists’ recommendations, and many brands also sell on Amazon, where some of the demand your ads create ends up.

So the tools that work here tie subscription revenue back to acquisition and help you see the whole picture. Here’s my ranking. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric, ranked third, sponsors this site.)

1. Wicked Reports

Wicked Reports markets itself to subscription brands, and the fit is real. Its lifetime lookback credits the original ad for every refill order, and cohort and LTV reports show which channels produce subscribers who stay. Measure is $499 a month for brands under $2.5 million in revenue. Maximize, at $999, adds Amazon revenue integration, Meta CAPI, and 5 Forces AI.

2. Triple Whale

Triple Whale works with Recharge, and its Foundation plan includes subscription data, cohort analysis, and multi-touch attribution. Even the free plan integrates Amazon alongside ads and email, which helps oral care brands see total demand. Foundation is listed from $219 a month on its Shopify listing and priced by annual GMV.

3. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, combines multi-touch attribution with post-purchase surveys and integrates with Meta, TikTok, Google, Pinterest, and Bing. Surveys catch buyers whose dentist or a review video sent them. It also reports LTV by channel. It’s an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom stores, and it covers your own store’s sales, not Amazon. Pricing starts at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews.

4. Lifetimely

Lifetimely by AMP shows refill cohorts, CAC, and payback period, which is the core question for a device-plus-refill brand. It’s free up to 50 orders a month, $49 up to 500, and $149 up to 3,000, with an Amazon add-on at $75 a month. It’s Shopify only.

5. KnoCommerce

Dentist and hygienist recommendations are a real acquisition channel for oral care, and only surveys can see them. KnoCommerce starts at $19 a month, with Analyst at $119 and Pro at $299.

What oral care brands should measure

Measure CAC against subscriber LTV, not first-order revenue, and track how many device buyers start a refill subscription by channel. Watch subscription churn by acquisition source, since discount-led channels often bring in subscribers who cancel early. If you sell on Amazon, track total MER across both channels so you notice when ads are driving Amazon sales your DTC attribution can’t see. See attribution tools for subscription brands, CAC payback period, and attribution tools for beauty and skincare brands.

FAQs

How should an oral care brand judge a channel?

On subscriber LTV against CAC, plus the share of device buyers who start a refill plan. First-order ROAS understates channels that bring in loyal subscribers.

How do I account for Amazon sales?

Track blended MER across DTC and Amazon. Triple Whale, Wicked Reports on Maximize, and Lifetimely with its add-on can bring Amazon data in.

How do I measure dentist recommendations?

Add a dentist option to your post-purchase survey. No pixel can see that recommendation.

What’s the cheapest way to start?

Triple Whale’s free plan or ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, at $99 a month, plus Lifetimely’s free tier for refill cohorts.

How to choose

  • Choose Wicked Reports if subscription LTV is the number that runs your business.
  • Choose Triple Whale if you want subscriptions and Amazon in one Shopify suite.
  • Choose ThoughtMetric (our sponsor) for DTC multi-touch attribution with surveys at a low price.
  • Add Lifetimely for refill cohorts and payback.
  • Add KnoCommerce to capture dentist and creator recommendations.
