The Best Attribution Tools for Activewear Brands

Activewear runs on paid social and community. Most growth comes through Meta and TikTok, a lot of it from ambassador and creator content, and new colorway drops create sharp spikes that make week-over-week numbers hard to read. Fit drives returns, so gross revenue flatters channels that pull in first-time buyers who send half the order back. And a meaningful share of discovery happens at the gym, in run clubs, and through friends.

The tools that work here handle paid social well, report on net revenue, and capture word of mouth. Here’s my ranking. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric, ranked third, sponsors this site.)

1. Triple Whale

Triple Whale is built for Shopify brands that win on creative volume, which describes most activewear labels. Creative analytics, multi-touch attribution, cohorts, and Moby AI come with Foundation, listed from $219 a month on its Shopify listing and priced by annual GMV. The free plan covers first and last click.

2. Northbeam

Northbeam is for activewear brands at scale, spending across Meta, TikTok, Google, YouTube, and Snapchat with a media buyer in the dashboard every day. Starter is listed from $1,500 a month for brands under $1.5 million a year in ad spend, and Professional is $3,500 a month on annual terms.

3. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, integrates with Meta, TikTok, Google, Pinterest, and Bing and attributes revenue down to the ad. Post-purchase surveys feed into the model, so ambassador content and gym word of mouth get credit even when nobody clicked a link. It’s an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom stores, with product-level reporting to see which colorways each channel sells. Pricing starts at $99 a month for 50,000 pageviews.

4. Elevar

Elevar, now sold as Audiense Online, is server-side tracking for Shopify. It doesn’t replace an attribution tool, but it improves the conversion data Meta and TikTok optimize on, which matters when paid social is most of your budget. Base is free up to 100 orders a month, Core is $225 for up to 2,000, and Advanced is $650 for up to 10,000.

5. Fairing

Fairing post-purchase surveys show how much of your growth comes from ambassadors, run clubs, and friends. Add a follow-up that lists your top ambassadors by name. It’s free up to 200 orders a month, then $49 up to 500.

What activewear brands should measure

Measure channels on net revenue after returns, not gross, because size exchanges and returns vary a lot by channel. Compare drop weeks against drop weeks instead of against normal weeks. Track new customer ROAS separately from blended, since retargeting will claim most of a drop’s revenue. And give every ambassador a unique code and link, then check survey answers against code redemptions. See attribution tools for apparel brands with high returns, how to attribute limited product drops, and how attribution tools handle influencer codes.

FAQs

How do I measure ambassador programs?

Combine unique codes and links with a post-purchase survey. Codes undercount because many buyers never use them, and surveys catch the rest.

Should I measure ROAS on gross or net revenue?

Net. Activewear returns vary by channel and product, and gross revenue hides which channels bring in buyers who keep what they order.

Do I need server-side tracking?

If Meta and TikTok are most of your spend, better conversion data usually pays off. Elevar is one option, and many attribution tools also send conversions back to ad platforms.

What’s the cheapest way to start?

Triple Whale’s free plan or ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, at $99 a month, plus Fairing’s free survey tier.

How to choose

  • Choose Triple Whale if creative testing on Meta and TikTok is your main lever.
  • Choose Northbeam once spend is large across many channels.
  • Choose ThoughtMetric (our sponsor) for paid social attribution plus surveys at a published price.
  • Add Elevar if you want stronger server-side signal to ad platforms.
  • Add Fairing to measure ambassadors and community.
