Triple Whale vs Klar: US Suite or European Profit Platform?

Triple Whale and Klar look similar on a demo call. Both pull your store, ad, and email data into one dashboard, both have their own tracking script, and both charge more as your revenue grows. The differences show up once you ask what each one is built to answer.

Triple Whale is the US Shopify default, built around attribution, creative reporting, and an AI agent. Klar is a German platform that starts from profitability: contribution margin, COGS, shipping, and returns, with attribution sold on top of its core plan. I’ve added ThoughtMetric as a third column. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.)

How Klar works

Klar’s pricing page lists what every plan includes: profitability and controlling dashboards, cohort and LTV reports, creative and influencer reporting, multi-shop and multi-currency support, and detailed cost inputs like COGS, fulfillment, weight-based shipping, and return costs. Attribution comes from a first-party tracking script with first, last, and unique touch models.

Pricing is set on your net revenue over the last 12 months, after returns and taxes, and recalculated every three months on monthly billing or every 12 months on annual. Core starts at €200 a month and Core plus Attribution at €400 in the lowest band. There are no long-term contracts and no setup fees. Klar suits brands, especially in Europe, that already manage the business on contribution margin.

How Triple Whale works

Triple Whale’s Triple Pixel powers multi-touch attribution on its paid plans, and the platform adds creative analytics, cohort reporting, custom dashboards, and Moby, an AI agent you can ask questions in plain English. It supports Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce, and there’s a free plan to start.

Foundation is listed from $219 a month on its Shopify listing, but the price you pay depends on annual GMV, and its pricing page says paid plans are 12-month subscriptions. That’s the biggest practical difference from Klar, where you can leave without waiting out a term. More detail is in how much Triple Whale costs.

Which one answers your question

If your weekly meeting starts with which ads should get more budget, Triple Whale’s multi-touch models give you more to work with than Klar’s first, last, and unique touch views. If it starts with whether a channel made money after shipping and returns, Klar was built for that, and Triple Whale’s profit views are lighter. I’d also weigh currency and location. Klar prices in euros, is a European company, and hosts data in Europe, which some EU brands prefer for procurement reasons.

Where ThoughtMetric fits

ThoughtMetric is the option for brands that want deeper attribution than Klar’s models without Triple Whale’s GMV pricing or 12-month term. It sponsors this site, so take that into account. It’s an e-commerce attribution tool for Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom stores, priced on pageviews from $99 a month for 50,000, with multi-touch attribution, post-purchase surveys, and CAPI for Meta and Google on every plan. It’s not a P&L tool, so if margin reporting is what you’d lose by leaving Klar, plan for that. See ThoughtMetric vs Klar and ThoughtMetric vs Triple Whale.

FAQs

Is Klar cheaper than Triple Whale?

It depends on your revenue band. Klar’s Core plan starts at €200 a month, and attribution brings it to €400 at the entry level. Triple Whale lists Foundation from $219, with price set by annual GMV. Compare quotes at your own revenue, and factor in Triple Whale’s 12-month term.

Does Klar do multi-touch attribution?

Klar’s pricing page lists first, last, and unique touch attribution with its first-party tracking script. If you need weighted multi-touch models, Triple Whale or a dedicated attribution tool will go further.

Does Triple Whale work outside Shopify?

Yes. Triple Whale supports WooCommerce and BigCommerce as well as Shopify. Klar connects to several platforms too, including Shopify, Shopware, Magento, and WooCommerce.

What should I use if I only need attribution?

A dedicated attribution tool. ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this site, starts at $99 a month and includes multi-touch attribution on every plan. For more options, see Klar alternatives.

How I’d decide

  • Choose Klar if you run the business on contribution margin and want a plan you can leave without waiting out a term.
  • Choose Triple Whale if you want broad reporting, creative analytics, and an AI agent, and a 12-month GMV-based term is acceptable.
  • Choose ThoughtMetric (our sponsor) if attribution is the main job and you’d rather pay on traffic than revenue.
  • If you’re switching away from Klar, rebuild your margin reporting before you cancel.
