Growing stores, one honest take at a time.

Peel Insights vs Lifetimely

Peel and Lifetimely get compared a lot because they answer the same basic question. Once a customer buys, what are they worth, and which customers are worth more? Both build cohort and LTV reporting on top of your Shopify data, both price on order volume, and neither is really an attribution tool. Where they differ is in what they do around that core. Peel leans toward segmentation and analysis depth. Lifetimely leans toward profit.

Here is how they compare on the things that usually decide it.

Pricing

Lifetimely, now part of AMP, publishes a simple ladder based on monthly orders. It is free up to 50 orders, then $79 a month for up to 500, $149 for up to 3,000, $299 for up to 7,000, $499 for up to 15,000, $749 for up to 25,000 and $999 above that. Every plan includes all features, and paid plans get a 14-day trial.

Peel also prices on monthly order volume and includes every feature on every plan. Core starts at $179 a month on an annual rate or $199 month to month, Essentials starts at $449 or $499, Accelerate starts at $809 or $899, and a Tailored plan is quoted for the largest stores. Higher plans add store connections, support and custom report credits rather than features. The trial is 7 days, and calculations on the trial only cover the past year of data.

For a store doing a few thousand orders a month, Lifetimely is usually the cheaper option. Peel’s “starting at” pricing moves with volume, so use its slider for your actual order count before comparing.

Cohorts and LTV

Both handle the basics well. You get cohort curves by first order month, repeat purchase rates, time between orders and LTV over fixed windows. Lifetimely adds predictive LTV, which estimates future value for recent cohorts. That is useful for planning, as long as you treat it as a model and check it against actual results as cohorts age.

Peel goes further on analysis. It lists more than 30 cohort metrics, product and customer journey reports, and RFM segments you can export to email and ad platforms. If your team wants to slice cohorts by first product, discount used or subscription status and then act on those segments, Peel has more depth. How I read the curves themselves is in reading LTV cohort curves on Shopify.

Profit

This is Lifetimely’s strongest area. Daily profit and loss reporting is built in, with ad spend and costs pulled in so you can see contribution by day. If your main problem is knowing whether you made money yesterday, Lifetimely answers it with less setup.

Peel includes cost of goods and currency conversion, but its center of gravity is customer analysis rather than a daily P&L.

Subscriptions and Amazon

Peel connects to Recharge, Skio, Smartrr, Bold, Awtomic and Stay.ai, and its subscription reporting is a real strength. It also supports Amazon stores alongside Shopify, with up to 3 stores on Essentials and 7 on Accelerate.

Lifetimely integrates with the major ad platforms, Klaviyo, Recharge and several shipping tools, and it sells Amazon data as an add-on on top of a paid plan. For a Shopify-only subscription brand, both work. For a brand with a meaningful Amazon business and several storefronts, Peel is the more natural fit.

AI and data access

Lifetimely’s paid plans include its Profit Agent and an MCP connection for AI tools. Peel offers Snowflake access for teams that want to query their data in SQL, plus daily digests to Slack or email. Which matters more depends on whether your team works in AI assistants or in a warehouse.

Attribution

Neither replaces an attribution tool. Peel includes UTM-based multi-touch attribution, and Lifetimely reports marketing spend and customer value by channel, but neither runs its own server-side tracking or post-purchase surveys the way a dedicated tool does. Most brands pair one of them with an attribution platform. ThoughtMetric is one option for that layer, and I compared it with each of these separately in ThoughtMetric vs Peel Insights and ThoughtMetric vs Lifetimely. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.)

If neither is quite right, the wider field is in Peel Insights alternatives and Lifetimely alternatives.

Which one to pick

  • Want daily profit and LTV in one place at a low published price? Lifetimely.
  • Under a few thousand orders a month and watching cost closely? Lifetimely.
  • Need deep cohort slicing and RFM segments you can push to email and ads? Peel.
  • Subscription brand on Recharge, Skio or Smartrr that wants detailed subscription reporting? Peel.
  • Selling on Amazon and several Shopify stores? Peel.
  • Need to know which ads drive sales? Pair either one with a dedicated attribution tool such as ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).

  1. How to measure LTV by acquisition channel on Shopify – The Ecomm Analyst Avatar

[…] Retention tools cover the second half. Peel and Lifetimely both build cohort and LTV reporting on top of your Shopify data. Peel starts at $179 a month on an annual rate and Lifetimely has a free tier for very small stores, with paid plans from $79 a month. Before you buy either for this purpose, confirm in the trial that you can group cohorts by the acquisition channel you trust, because their default source fields may not match your attribution tool’s view. I compared the two in more depth in Peel Insights vs Lifetimely. […]
