The Ecomm Analyst

Growing stores, one honest take at a time.

WooCommerce analytics tools

WooCommerce brands get a raw deal in analytics coverage. Most of the polished e-commerce tools were built for Shopify first, and many never added WooCommerce at all. The good news is that the options that do exist cover the main jobs well, and a sensible WooCommerce stack costs less than most Shopify equivalents. Here is what I would look at, grouped by the job each tool does.

1. WooCommerce Analytics (built in)

WooCommerce ships with its own analytics section covering revenue, orders, products, categories, coupons, taxes, stock, and customers, with date comparisons and CSV exports. It is free and reads straight from your orders, so it is the number to reconcile everything else against. It does not know your ad spend, so it cannot tell you ROAS or CAC, and its customer views are fairly basic. On a busy store, large date ranges can also be slow.

2. GA4

Free, and still the best general tool for site behavior: landing pages, funnels, site search, and organic traffic. On WooCommerce you need a plugin or tag setup to send e-commerce events properly, and revenue will not match WooCommerce exactly because of ad blockers and consent. Use it for behavior, not for splitting ad budget. I explained why in why e-commerce brands shouldn’t use GA4 for attribution.

3. Metorik

Metorik is the WooCommerce-native reporting tool most operators end up with. It was started by a former WooCommerce developer and is built around WooCommerce orders, customers, products, coupons, and subscriptions, with fast segmentation, cohorts, LTV, and saved reports, plus email tools. Pricing is one plan with every feature, scaled by your average monthly orders. The Starter plan is $25 a month, and Metorik’s own help docs give the example of a company at 1,800 orders a month paying $150. Multiple stores share one subscription based on combined orders, and there is a 30-day free trial.

4. ThoughtMetric

The attribution layer. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) ThoughtMetric supports WooCommerce on every plan, with the same features as Shopify stores. It pulls spend from Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, Microsoft, and other channels, credits each WooCommerce order once using one of five multi-touch models, and splits results by new and returning customers and by product. Post-purchase surveys are built in. Pricing is based on pageviews, starting at $99 a month for 50,000, with a 14-day free trial. This is the piece that answers “which ads are working,” which neither WooCommerce Analytics nor Metorik is designed for.

5. wetracked.io

If your ad platforms are under-reporting WooCommerce purchases, a server-side tool fixes the signal. wetracked.io supports WooCommerce and forwards enriched conversions to Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, X, and Google Ads. Starter is $49 a month for up to 500 orders, Business is $149 for 3,000, with a 14-day trial. It improves what Ads Manager sees rather than telling you which channel deserves credit.

6. Glew

Glew is a multichannel e-commerce BI tool that lists WooCommerce alongside Shopify, Magento, and BigCommerce. It suits brands selling on several platforms or channels that want merchandising, customer, and marketing reports in one place. Check its site for current plans and pricing.

A sensible WooCommerce stack

For most WooCommerce brands between $1M and $20M, I would run WooCommerce Analytics as the ground truth, GA4 for site behavior, Metorik for customer and product reporting, and an attribution tool for ad decisions. Add a server-side tool only if ad platforms are clearly missing conversions. That covers nearly every question for a few hundred dollars a month. For the attribution choice specifically, see best attribution tools for WooCommerce stores.

Choosing

  • Basic sales, product, and coupon reporting? WooCommerce Analytics, free.
  • Site behavior and organic traffic? GA4.
  • Fast customer segments, cohorts, and LTV built for WooCommerce? Metorik.
  • Which channels and ads drive WooCommerce sales? ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).
  • Ad platforms missing conversions? wetracked.io.
