Triple Whale alternatives for BFCM

Plenty of brands start questioning Triple Whale in October, usually because the renewal or the GMV band went up just as BFCM budgets are being set. Triple Whale has a free plan, and its paid plans are priced on annual GMV with 12-month terms, so a strong year raises the bill. Its Shopify App Store listing shows Foundation from $219 a month at the lowest band.

The timing matters more than the tool. Switching attribution tools means a new pixel and a new history, and you lose the ability to compare this BFCM to last year inside one system. If you are going to move, do it now and run both in parallel through Cyber Monday, or wait until December. Do not cut over the week of Thanksgiving. With that said, here are five alternatives and what each is good at during the holiday peak.

1. Northbeam

Northbeam is the alternative for brands spending heavily across many channels. Its Enterprise plan offers optional hourly conversion data for high-frequency media buying, Clicks + Deterministic Views credits view-driven sales, and Apex feeds its attribution back into ad delivery. Starter is $1,500 a month for brands spending under $1.5M a year on ads, month to month on Shopify. Professional is $3,500 a month on an annual term, and Enterprise is custom. It is a lot to onboard six weeks before Black Friday, so it works best as a parallel install now and a full switch in the new year.

2. ThoughtMetric

ThoughtMetric is the fastest to stand up before the peak. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) Most stores are set up the same day with an onboarding call included, and it covers the BFCM questions that matter: multi-touch attribution by channel and campaign, new versus returning customer splits, product-level attribution for discounted SKUs, and post-purchase surveys for the gift buyers your pixel misses. Its AI Connectors let you check numbers from Claude or ChatGPT on your phone. Pricing is based on pageviews, starting at $99 a month for 50,000, billed monthly if you want, so you are not signing a year to test it over one holiday. Since pricing follows traffic, check your November pageviews against its tiers.

3. Polar Analytics

Polar is the alternative if your BFCM pain is reporting rather than attribution: several stores, several markets, and a finance team that wants holiday margin views you currently build in spreadsheets. It combines many sources into one model with custom metrics and an attribution module. Pricing is not listed on the website, so you will need a demo.

4. Elevar

Elevar is not an attribution platform. I include it because some brands lean on Triple Whale’s pixel partly to feed the ad platforms better data. If that is your main concern for BFCM, a dedicated server-side tool handles it. Essentials is $200 a month for 1,000 orders, Growth is $450 for 10,000, and Business is $950 for 50,000. Pair it with an attribution tool if you also need cross-channel credit.

5. Lifetimely

Lifetimely is for what happens after BFCM: did the holiday cohort come back, and at what margin? It reports cohorts, predictive LTV, CAC, and daily P&L, priced by orders from free up to 50 orders, then $79 for up to 500, $149 for up to 3,000, and $299 for up to 7,000. It is a complement to an attribution tool rather than a replacement for one.

How I would run a parallel test

Install the new tool now and leave Triple Whale running. For the next three weeks, compare total attributed revenue against Shopify in both tools, and compare channel shares for your top three channels. Expect the numbers to differ, since each tool uses its own model. What you are checking is that the new tool is stable and that its story makes sense against what you know about your marketing. Then run both through Cyber Monday and decide in December with a full holiday of side-by-side data. My checklist for that is in what to check before switching from Triple Whale.

Picking one

  • Very high spend and buying media by the hour? Northbeam, installed in parallel now.
  • Want attribution live before Thanksgiving on a monthly plan? ThoughtMetric (our sponsor).
  • Holiday reporting across stores and markets is the headache? Polar Analytics.
  • Mainly worried about ad platform signal during the peak? Elevar.
  • Want to know whether holiday customers stick? Lifetimely, alongside your attribution tool.
