Polar Analytics is a good product with a specific shape. It is a business intelligence platform for Shopify brands: connectors to your whole stack, dashboards you build, an AI assistant, unlimited users and history, and on the higher plans its own pixel and intraday data refresh. If you want a data layer for the whole business, that is a strong offer.
A lot of brands who end up in Polar demos only wanted one thing from it: a trustworthy answer to which channels, campaigns, and ads drove the orders. For that, a BI platform is more than you need, and Polar’s pricing is not listed on the website, so you are in a sales process before you know whether it fits. These are the attribution-focused alternatives I would compare. For the broader list, including BI alternatives, see Best Polar Analytics alternatives.
Triple Whale
Triple Whale is the closest in spirit, because it also bundles attribution with dashboards and BI, but it is easier to try. The free plan includes the Triple Pixel, first and last click attribution, ten users, and twelve months of data, with no credit card. Paid plans unlock its full set of multi-touch models, including one that blends in post-purchase survey answers. Paid tiers are priced on annual GMV plus package and are 12-month subscriptions, so the free plan is where to do your evaluating.
Northbeam
Northbeam is the attribution-only heavyweight. It does not try to be your BI layer. It focuses on multi-touch attribution, view-through conversions through its Clicks plus Deterministic Views model, and feeding first-party data back to ad algorithms through Apex. Starter is listed from $1,500 a month for brands spending under $1.5 million a year on ads, month-to-month for Shopify stores. If attribution is the job and the budget is there, it is the most direct swap.
Wicked Reports
Wicked Reports is attribution-first and built around lifetime value, which makes it a good fit for subscription and repeat-purchase brands. Its pricing page uses revenue bands. In the lowest band, up to $2.5M in annual revenue, Measure is $499 a month, Scale is $699, and Maximize is $999. Measure already includes cohort and LTV reports with a lifetime lookback, and Maximize adds Meta CAPI, custom conversions, and Amazon revenue. It is not a BI layer, and there is no free trial listed, so expect a pricing call.
Rockerbox
Rockerbox only makes sense here if attribution for you includes offline media. It measures TV, podcasts, and direct mail alongside digital, and it adds MMM and managed incrementality testing as separate products on the same data foundation. It also exports to BigQuery, Redshift, and Snowflake, which overlaps with part of what a BI platform gives you. There are no prices on its Plans page, and Rockerbox says MTA can take 6 to 8 weeks to implement, so this is a bigger project than the others here.
ThoughtMetric
ThoughtMetric is built around exactly the question in the title. (Disclosure: ThoughtMetric sponsors this site.) It covers multiple attribution models including multi-touch, post-purchase surveys, custom channels for offline and non-standard spend, and product-level attribution. Pricing is published and based on monthly pageviews, starting at $99 a month for 50,000, with every feature included and a 14-day trial. It is not a BI platform, so if you later want custom finance dashboards across your whole stack, Polar would still be the better tool for that. I compared the two directly in ThoughtMetric vs Polar Analytics.
Why the distinction matters
A BI platform reports what you connect and configure. Attribution needs something more specific: a first-party pixel that follows a visitor across sessions, a way to stitch those sessions to an order, and a model that splits credit across the touchpoints. Polar does include its own pixel, but on its higher plans, so the real question in a Polar demo is which plan you would need for attribution and what that plan costs. If the answer is a plan built around everything else you do not need, an attribution-first tool is the cleaner purchase.
Whichever direction you go, run the new tool alongside your current reporting for at least one full purchase cycle. Pixel-based tools start collecting on the day you install them, so your history will not carry over, and you want to see where the numbers disagree before you move budget on them.
When Polar is still the right call
If you have an analyst, more than a handful of data sources, and questions that cut across marketing, inventory, and retention, Polar’s breadth is the point. Buying a narrow attribution tool in that situation just means you will build the same BI layer in a spreadsheet later.
