Zigpoll is a reasonable place to start with post-purchase surveys. It is quick to install, it handles on-site and exit intent surveys alongside post-purchase, and the free Lite tier gives you 100 responses per month to see whether customers will answer at all.
The reason operators start looking elsewhere is the metering. Zigpoll’s published plans run $39 per month for 500 responses, $129 for 2,000, and $259 for unlimited, with annual billing bringing those to $29, $97, and $194. Note that a response is counted per question answered, not per survey completed. Ask a three question survey and a single customer burns three responses. On a store doing 3,000 orders a month with a 25 percent response rate, that arithmetic moves you up two tiers faster than you expect.
Here is what I would evaluate against it. Pricing comes from each vendor’s own listing.
1. Fairing
The default recommendation for stores where attribution is the actual goal rather than general customer feedback. Fairing meters on orders instead of responses, which removes the incentive to ask fewer questions. It is free up to 200 orders per month, then $49 for 201 to 500 orders, $99 for 501 to 1,000, and $149 for 1,000 to 5,000. There is a 14 day trial on the paid tiers.
Responses come back tied to the order record, so you can analyze answers against AOV and lifetime value rather than looking at a bar chart of raw counts. That is the difference between a survey tool and an attribution input.
2. KnoCommerce
The most flexible of the group on targeting, with segmentation across a long list of Shopify attributes and multi question logic flows. Starter is $19 per month but caps you at one survey with three questions, which is more of an evaluation tier than a working plan. Analyst at $119 opens up two surveys with real question depth and four audiences. Pro is $299. All tiers come with a 7 day trial, and NPS is an add on with additional fees.
The jump from $19 to $119 is steep, and there is nothing in between. Budget for Analyst if you plan to do anything beyond a single how did you hear about us question.
3. ThoughtMetric
Different category, and I am including it because the survey question and the attribution question get conflated constantly. If you are installing Zigpoll because your channel numbers do not reconcile, a survey app is a slow and partial fix. Surveys tell you what a self selected subset of customers remember. They do not reconcile spend against revenue.
ThoughtMetric, which sponsors this blog, connects ad platform spend to Shopify orders directly so the channel view comes from tracked order data rather than recall. It starts at $99 per month with all features at every tier and a 14 day trial, or roughly $83 per month billed annually. It is worth being straight about the limits. It is not a survey tool, it does not capture zero party data, and it will not tell you about podcast or word of mouth influence the way a survey will. Most brands running this properly use both, which is the setup I described in using post-purchase surveys as a real attribution signal.
4. Grapevine
The simplest pricing in the category. One plan at $25 per month with unlimited responses and no overage fees, plus a 14 day trial. For a store doing volume, that flat structure is the whole pitch, and against Zigpoll’s $259 unlimited tier it is a significant gap.
You get post-purchase, NPS, CSAT, and attribution surveys, with revenue and AOV reporting by channel and targeting by order value, product, country, and customer type. It is a smaller operation than the others, which cuts both ways. Less roadmap velocity, but the support tends to be from someone who knows the product.
How I would pick
If you are under 200 orders a month, start with Fairing’s free tier and spend nothing. If you are doing real volume and want predictable cost, Grapevine at $25 flat is hard to argue with. If your surveys need conditional logic and audience targeting to answer product questions rather than just attribution questions, KnoCommerce earns the higher price.
And if the underlying problem is that Meta and Google are both claiming the same orders, no survey app in this list will fix that. Surveys are a triangulation input. They are useful precisely because they are measured differently from pixels, not because they are more accurate.
One thing to check before you switch
Response history usually does not migrate. If you have eighteen months of answers in Zigpoll, export them before you cancel, and expect to restart your baselines in the new tool. Changing the survey wording at the same time as changing the tool makes any before and after comparison meaningless, so move the questions across verbatim for the first quarter even if you plan to rewrite them later.
